
Liz Baker is the Senior Director of Public Engagement at Humanity United and the founding director of its Independent Journalism and Media (IJAM) program. In this capacity, she oversees global journalism strategy, grantmaking, and support for journalists and media organizations. Liz also manages the Borderless Journalism Fund, a pooled resource at the Humanity United Charitable Fund dedicated to supporting journalism in challenging and high-risk environments.
Previously, Liz developed Humanity United’s media engagement strategy and led communications for the Alliance to End Slavery and Trafficking (ATEST). She served as Chief Communications Officer at the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), where she advocated for efforts to hold warring parties accountable to civilian protection. As Humanitarian Press Officer for Oxfam America, Liz led U.S. media coverage of humanitarian emergencies worldwide and previously led communications for Oxfam’s Horn of Africa regional office.
