Humanity United calls on the Trump Administration to strengthen U.S. leadership for peace and freedom

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to assume office, Humanity United releases our presidential transition memo with six recommendations urging a commitment to a values-driven foreign policy that prioritizes human rights and dignity.

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to assume office, Humanity United releases our presidential transition memo “A Presidential Agenda for Enduring Peace and Freedom.” The incoming administration will face a barrage of issues at home and abroad that require pivotal leadership. We urge the Trump administration to commit to a values-driven foreign policy that prioritizes human rights and dignity. Consistently upholding these principles across all policy areas will enhance the U.S.’ influence and contribute to a more stable and just world.

Over the two decades of Humanity United’s existence, we have seen the credibility of the U.S. ebb and flow—however, allies have consistently sought this leadership. As a result, we know that the United States’ role as a global leader is critical to ensuring the security, prosperity, and dignity of people in the U.S. and around the world.

In an increasingly complex world, the Trump administration has an opportunity to reinforce U.S. global leadership on issues of peace and human rights. Rebuilding credibility demands a concerted effort to align foreign policy with core values while also addressing domestic challenges. The six recommendations highlighted in this memo, along with recommendations from our partners and allies across civil society, require that the administration ensures the U.S.’ credibility as a global leader.

Humanity United welcomes the opportunity to continue to partner with the U.S. government on aligned priorities and will continue to hold the administration accountable for advancing global peace and freedom.
