Sharla Ferguson

Senior Learning & Communications Manager, Public Engagement

Sharla joined Humanity United in 2013. As Senior Learning & Communications Manager, Sharla acts as a bridge between HU’s Strategy, Learning & Impact function and the Public Engagement portfolio’s Strategic Communications program team.

Responsible for managing the portfolio’s learning plan and facilitating learning and sense-making activities, Sharla works to support the connection between portfolio and program-level learning. She also works collaboratively across the organization to deepen staff understanding of how communications can advance HU’s mission and strategic priorities and is responsible for supporting the execution of communications strategies.

Prior to joining HU, she worked for a small international non-profit on community outreach and provided mentorship and leadership training to university students.

Sharla holds bachelor’s degrees in global & international studies and religious studies, with a focus in the Middle East, from the University of California in Santa Barbara. She also holds a master’s degree in global leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary, where she focused her studies on peacemaking and intercultural leadership.
