Mia is a portfolio coordinator for the Forced Labor and Human Trafficking Portfolio and is part of a fellowship program. Prior to working at HU, she was a researcher at Sheffield Hallam University Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice’s Forced Labour Lab where she co-authored two reports documenting Uyghur forced labor in the automotive, agricultural and cotton industries. Her analysis led in part to the enactment and currently serve as the basis of enforcement of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, Senate Inquires and an international trade task force. Her analyses have been featured and cited by the NY Times, Universal Periodical Reviews, UN Committee Submissions, various Senate Select Committee Letters, and the UK Parliament.
Prior to Humanity United Mia also advised various different stakeholders on Uyghur forced labor in their value chains and investment portfolios and enforcement of due diligence legislation and provided tailored recommendations to a coalition of over 53 NGOS, United States Department of Trade and Homeland Security, and dozens of investment firms.
She holds a bachelors in Political Science with a minor in Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention from Binghamton University, and in her free time loves to read and go for walks on the beach.
