Ayan Ahmed

Manager, Strategic Communications

Ayan is Manager, Strategic Communications at Humanity United. In this role, she leads media efforts within the Strategic Communications team and oversees the organization’s social media strategy and content.

Prior to joining HU, Ayan was the Communications Manager at Polaris, a U.S.-based anti-trafficking organization, where she managed earned media promotion and was responsible for telling the organization’s story across all platforms, specifically creating social media visibility and engagement around the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline program and amplifying the experiences of victims and survivors to combat misinformation.

Previously, Ayan was the Hotline Marketing Coordinator at the National Center for Victims of Crime where she worked as part of the Communications team to increase outreach and awareness for the organization’s victim services programs. Before that, Ayan worked as the Hotlines Resource Specialist for the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline operated by Polaris where she was responsible for the development and maintenance of the program’s National Referral Directory and managed relationships with service provider partners throughout the country.

Ayan holds a master’s degree in communications with concentrations in corporate, nonprofit, and digital communications from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in international affairs, with a focus in international development and Africa from The George Washington University.
