Last week, Randy Newcomb, HU’s President & CEO, received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Bath for his services to the field of international human rights.
“I am humbled and honored to have received an honorary degree from my alma mater—a university where innovation is encouraged, solutions are debated, understanding is pursued and global leadership is demanded,” he said.
Only a few days after the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union, Randy spoke to the 2016 summer graduating class about the importance of building bridges and seeking solutions to the great challenges we collectively face.
In his speech he said, “I would argue that we shape the world by the questions we ask. If we are intent on asking questions on how we might build walls and isolate ourselves, we are very likely to arrive at a very isolated and diminished future. Alternatively, if you—if we—have the courage to ask questions about how we might build bridges for a better future, a future where all are able to flourish, I am convinced we are on the cusp of a bright and promising 21st Century.”
