Mariam is Senior Manager, Forced Labor & Human Trafficking at Humanity United.
Prior to joining HU, Mariam was a Senior Project Manager at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, where she led work on corporate accountability and migrant workers’ rights in the Arab Gulf. In this region, Mariam has published research on the treatment of migrant workers in the construction and hospitality sectors, access to healthcare among migrant workers, and Gulf aid flows to Africa.
Mariam’s earlier professional background was in global health, supporting advocacy and digital communications for non-profits and public sector clients on malaria, women’s health and universal access to medicines.
Mariam holds a master’s degree in global health from the University of California, San Francisco and a bachelor of science degree in natural sciences from the University of Durham, England.
