Leadership Transition: A Message From Our CEO

Srik Gopal, Humanity United’s President & CEO shares an important leadership transition update.

Yesterday, I shared with Humanity United colleagues that I intend to step down as President & CEO at the end of 2026 after seven years leading this incredible organization. I look forward to working with our board and HU staff to help onboard a new CEO and ensure a smooth transition for the organization and our partners. HU will soon embark on an organizational strategy process, providing a natural moment to usher the organization into a new era of leadership.

I am fortunate to have spent more than a decade with organizations across The Omidyar Group. I will communicate more about my next steps in the months ahead but I am excited to continue to be of service during this transformational moment in our world and our field.

I will continue to lead HU and our projects, partnerships, and grants will continue as planned. As I stated earlier this year, while we are facing unprecedented challenges as a sector, I’ve seen Humanity United staff and partners show up with resilience, a renewed sense of purpose, and a spirit of collaboration working towards peace, freedom, and justice. It is a strong foundation on which to continue this momentum with renewed leadership.

I will partner with the Humanity United board on launching the search for our new CEO later this spring. We will update this post with further information on the role, when available.

With much gratitude and hope,
