HU Response to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

Core to our values at Humanity United is the belief in human rights and dignity. We stand with our partners in this challenging time and remain committed to working tirelessly to advance human dignity at home and around the world.

Today’s Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization will have ramifications for all of us, but it will disproportionately impact women of color, many in underserved communities.

Core to our values at Humanity United is the belief in human rights and dignity. While we work with partners all around the world, in the United States our partners work towards racial justice and equity. This ruling exacerbates harm to women in the Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color (BIPOC) communities they serve, many of whom already lack access to needed health care and other support services.

We recognize that a broad spectrum of opinion exists on abortion, and we honor the divergent and nuanced views among our own staff and partners. What cannot be disputed is that today’s decision to roll back a protection that has existed for nearly 50 years will affect those already marginalized in the U.S. We stand with our partners in this challenging time and remain committed to working tirelessly to advance human dignity at home and around the world.
