Waseem is Senior Manager, Forced Labor & Human Trafficking at Humanity United.

Prior to joining HU, Waseem was the Policy Advisor at the US coalition of Publish What You Pay, a global civil society network focused on addressing corruption in the oil, gas, and mining sectors. Waseem also worked on governance of extractive industries at the World Bank, transparency and accountability at the Open Society Foundations, international human rights law with the Open Society Justice Initiative, and benchmarking of international corporate responsibility standards at Equitable Origin. Prior to his work on extractives and governance issues, Waseem undertook research on human rights violations and conflict in the Middle East.

Waseem holds a master of international affairs degree from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, a certificate in Arabic from the American University in Cairo, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh.
