Sharla joined Humanity United in 2013. As Senior Manager of Strategic Communications, Sharla works to advance HU’s initiatives through strategic communications, with a special focus on digital communications and messaging. She works across the organization to bring HU’s mission and strategic priorities to life through thoughtful communications. She supports the development and execution of communications strategies across HU’s portfolios and initiatives and works to enhance the effectiveness of the organization and its priority issue areas.
Prior to joining HU, she worked for a small international non-profit on community outreach and provided mentorship and leadership training to university students.
Sharla holds bachelor’s degrees in global & international studies and religious studies, with a focus in the Middle East, from the University of California in Santa Barbara. She also holds a master’s degree in global leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary, where she focused her studies on peacemaking and intercultural leadership.
