Elizabeth Kim

Director, Strategic Communications

Elizabeth Kim is Director of the Strategic Communications portfolio. In this role, Beth brings many years of experience as an award-winning journalist and as a communications director for nonprofits including the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Beth spent two decades in traditional newspapers, led print and online publications for legal and business news, and voiced a morning news radio program in the Silicon Valley. Her areas of greatest interest in journalism included social equity, climate change, the criminal justice system, and animal welfare. Her coverage won awards from groups including the California Newspaper Publishers Association, California Bar Association, and Associated Press.

Her first book, focused on the immigrant experience and personal empowerment, is used in Asian and women’s studies programs at a number of colleges and universities worldwide. She has written for and been featured in media including Oprah’s O Magazine, Time, People, BBC, PBS, CNN and NPR.

Beth was a refugee from a war-torn country, and considers working with the Humanity United team a way to bring her life’s experiences full circle and give back everything she possibly can to ease suffering and make the world a kinder place.
