Daniel Boggan
Daniel Boggan brings a diverse wealth of experience to Humanity United. He started in government management in 1970 as assistant to the City Manager and was promoted to assistant City Manager in Jackson, Michigan the next year. He served as Deputy City Manager and City Manager of Flint, Michigan (1972-1975); Chief Management Officer of Portland, Oregon (1976-1978); Assistant County Administrator of San Diego County and County Administrator of Essex County, New Jersey (1978-1982); and ended his career in city government as Berkeley, California’s City Manager (1982-1986). Daniel then served as Vice Chancellor of Business and Administrative Services from 1986 to 1994. In 1994, he became a Vice President of the NCAA and served his last seven years as Senior Vice President and COO.
Daniel has served on boards for more than 30 years. He has been a member of the Clorox Company board since 1990 and chairs its Nominating and Governance Committee. He also has served on the VIAD CORP board for the last nine years where he is a member of the Human Resources and the Nominating and Governance Committees. In 2013, he retired from the California Endowment and the Alameda Health System’s board, where he served each board as Finance Committee Chair, Audit Committee Chair and Vice Chair, and Chair of the Board. He served on the Collective Brands Board of Directors through 2012.
Daniel has served on various non-profit boards, including the East Oakland Youth Development Foundation, The Elders, the National Writing Project, the Indianapolis Zoo, the Oakland Zoo, the Citizenship Through Sports Alliance, and the National Youth Sports Program. With the exception of both zoos, he served as chair of each of the aforementioned organizations.
