Name and Position?
Kilian Moote, Project Director, KnowTheChain

Have you had any unusual pets?
I grew up on a farm with many unusual animals including imported Brazilian chickens, hedgehogs, and a miniature horse. The family favorite has always been Levi, the miniature Sicilian donkey.

What’s the best book you’ve read lately?
Adam Grant’s latest book “Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World”

What do you do for fun?
I grew up on a rural island so I enjoy any outdoor activity, but my favorites involve the water. I’m my happiest when I’m in, on, or near the ocean.

What was your first job?
In high school I trained polo horses that were bought off the racetrack. I grew up riding horses so training them was a natural first job.

What is the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
Moving away from home at fourteen years old to attend high school in Seattle. While I’ve had many adventures since then, this was the first time I took a significant step outside my comfort zone on my own.

Favorite travel location?
Morro de Sao Paulo, a small island with no roads off the coast of Salvador in Brazil. It is paradise!

Favorite food indulgence?
Any sandwich that you have to eat in two sittings, which may include two types of meat, jalapeno’s, Sriracha, grilled mushrooms, melted cheese, or all of the above.

What is something about you that may surprise others?
From time to time I emcee comedy shows and events. Both my brothers are professional performers, so entertaining runs in the family.

What inspires you?
It may be cliché, but I’d say my mom. I hope to be as strong as her some day.
