Five years ago today, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide committed in Darfur. Unfortunately, the international community has failed to impose consequences for Bashir’s atrocities.

Today, Humanity United and 30+ civil society organizations issued an open letter to the United Nations Security Council and the ICC asking that Bashir be held accountable and brought to justice.

“It is imperative for the international community to make it clear to Bashir and all perpetrators of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity that impunity will not be an option for another year,” reads the letter.

Five years of impunity must end.
